Battle Green was established in 2018, and we’re based in Snowdonia, North Wales. Like many people, we were increasingly concerned by the stream of reports on the negative environmental impact humans are having on the natural world. It’s hard to believe there are more micro plastics in the oceans than stars in the Milky Way, or that around 100 million marine mammals die from plastic pollution each year.
We’ve created a range of thoughtfully-designed products to help reduce waste and single-use plastic at home, while grocery shopping, and eating out. This includes a selection of zero waste starter kits based around these themes that offer an easy way to kick-start a journey to less waste.
We’re mindful of the ingredients and materials we use – for the products we make ourselves, and when working with carefully-chosen partners to create our designs. The entire product range is suitable for vegans, and as huge animal lovers we're delighted to say that our handmade cosmetics are PETA-certified vegan and cruelty free. Our cosmetics also come in plastic free, recyclable and refillable packaging. Our fabric products are GOTS certified organic, using eco-friendly inks, and we are also members of the Forestry Stewardship Council. This means that we are audited annually, and that our FSC certified wooden products can be traced back to the grower, ensuring that socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable practices are in place throughout.
Our natural deodorant won a Green Parent Beauty Award in 2020 and it was shortlisted for a Veggie Award 2021, alongside our refillable dry shampoo. Our solid dish soap also won three Beauty Shortlist Awards in 2021, including for 'Best Eco Cleaning Product 2021 (Kitchen)'.
Through Battle Green, we support several causes that are important to us, including tree-planting initiatives and an animal welfare charity. We have also been members of the ‘Surfers Against Sewage’ 250 scheme for businesses since 2018, making monthly donations to support the charity's vital work to clean up our beaches and seas.
